Kia ora,

It is my pleasure to invite you to a community Open Day  on the Eastern Bays Shared Path Project – a flagship project for Hutt City Council. This project is a ‘shared path’ with a ‘shared vision’ as well: yours, ours, special interest groups and local iwi who we have partnered with to develop a safe and integrated 4.4km walking and cycling facility along Marine Drive (between Point Howard and Eastbourne) to improve connectivity, transport mode choice, health, and wellbeing.
Hutt City Council and Mayor Barry are keen to update you on where the project is at, after mediation successfully resolved an appeal over the project’s consent and the green light for the project to proceed was given by the Environment Court in June.
We can now move forward with greater certainty on timing and direction of the project. The next stage involves preparing the detailed design and a suite of management plans that outline how the effects of the shared path are managed. This will be followed by the tender process in preparation for construction of the first stage of the project.
The Open Day will give you the opportunity to share your views on any aspect of the project plan, and, most importantly, for Council and the project team to take back your views to help shape the future direction of this truly regional asset.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Ngā mihi,

Kara Puketapu-Dentice
