To Veli
Dear Veli

My club, Rotary Hutt Valley, is holding a Big Hats, High Tea event at the end of May to raise funds to support Ukraine. Is your club/district working in this space. If so we are keen to assist a Rotary club with some monetary support from funds raised at our event. It would be great if you and I could work to bring our two clubs together and to provide some welcome relief to those in Ukraine who are facing the most horrendous onslaught throughout their country.

Please can you let me know as soon as possible if this assistance would be helpful to any projects that your club/district may be working on to provide relief to help resettle Ukrainian refugees.

I hope all’s well with you and Hippi and your extended family. I will always treasure the many happy times we spent together, particularly in Finland.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon
With tons of love to you both

Veli Heinijoki - Finland
PDG ,
Rotary International Training Leader,
Dear Judy,

Here is my contact in Ukraine. I got to know Mykola when working as a zone coordinator. I have donated trough his channel and our club has donated via Red Cross.

Here in Finland we are also working hands on with the refugees arriving to our country. Finland feels deep compassion to Ukrainians. Their destiny reminds us about our WInter War 1939 when Soviet Union with same kind of false accusations attacked Finland. Their purpose was to conquer Finland. Our fathers beat their troops, so that we could keep our independence and such horrors like in Ukraine did not happen here.

I hope this will help you to direct your help.
Message to Mykola from Judy Bain

Dear Mykola

We send our very best wishes from Rotary Hutt Valley to Rotary in Ukraine and to all who are assisting with the resettlement of Ukrainians and providing much needed medical supplies. We have read your stories with sorrow but also great interest.

My dear friend  Veli Heinijoki and I worked together as Training Leaders at International Assembly for two years. I also had the pleasure of visiting Veli and Hippi in Tampere, Finland.

Veli has kindly given me your name as a contact person to send funds to assist with Rotary work in Ukraine and surrounding countries.

Please advise the correct bank account name and number, full bank name and address, together with Swift code to deposit funds.

Rotary Hutt Valley are currently fund raising by selling gift bags Also, on Sunday 29 May we will be staging an event ‘Big Hats - High Tea’ again to provide funding to assist Rotary work in Ukraine.

I understand that Odessa is now under fire. We do hope that you and your family are safe.

Once funds have been received by Rotary in Ukraine our members and supporters will be particularly pleased to hear how the funding is applied.

With our very best wishes to you all

Judy Bain

Further from Veli

Dear Judy and Mykola,

I hope you can find one another to help people in need. Offering support this way makes it more personal and significant when you get to know more detailed the targets of the support.

I just heard from the news that my city Tampere is housing more than thousand Ukrainians. The kids can start immediately in the school and hopefully the parents can find jobs for the time they have to spend here. The target is that they can live as normal life as possible before they can go back to their home country and start building up Ukraine.

Dear Mykola our hearts and prayers are with you and thank you Judy all your efforts in this.

Best Regards,
Veli Heinijoki
