Hi everyone,
Thank you for the awesome turnout to our president changeover between Jeff & myself.  From the buzz of conversation it appeared that people really enjoyed themselves.  Cathy Sheppard from BSI People Skills made for a really inspirational speaker, relaying to us how her providing personal (soft) skills to highly educated people in Bangladesh has materially helped them gain and thrive in their employment in a hugely competitive market.

Thank you also to the many club members who offered messages of support following the passing of my father this last week, and particularly to Michelle for visiting me with some beautiful plants and to Jo for willingly picking up a number of practical tasks to help lighten my load.  All very much appreciated!

It was great this week to have John and Jorden Rowley attend our meeting with Molly who they are hosting from rural NSW. I was hugely impressed how easily both girls spoke to our club, and I’m sure Jorden will be a great ambassador for HVHS and our region when she stays with Molly’s family on her Rotary matched student exchange in a couple of months. As mentioned, we will have 17-year-old Maxime hosted within our club from July once she arrives from France in late July.  Max will also attend HVHS during her year in the Hutt.

John Mohi clearly gained a lot from his District Governor training in USA this year.  Awesome to hear about some of the ideas he already has for his year as DG, including local tree planting projects and making vaccinations available in the Pacific Islands through the “Give Every Child a Chance” programme.  I know we’ll hear more from John and the team organising our District Conference to be held 1-3 May 2020 at Lower Hutt Events Centre.  Please don’t be shy to volunteer your services to Suzanne or me – before you are asked to assist.  😊

Lastly, please remember that now that it’s June, it’s time to use new Entertainment Books.  The following link can be shared with colleagues and friends to enable them to easily purchase digital or hardcopy Entertainment Books for numerous areas around NZ.
Easy fundraising – please share this link widely now!  https://www.entertainmentbook.co.nz/orderbooks/104d032
Stay happy – and enjoy dining out,
Bruce
